Dominique's LinkedIn content was generating minimal impressions and almost no engagement. Her posts weren't reaching the right people, and the platform wasn't contributing to her business goals in any meaningful way.

The core problem: her content wasn't speaking directly to the pain points of her ideal clients, executives, CFOs, and board members. Without that alignment, even well-written posts were invisible to the people who mattered most.

Before changing anything, we needed to understand what was already working in Dominique's space. The answers were already there — we just had to find them.

Competitor Deconstruction

Rather than guessing at strategy, we studied what was already winning. We identified the top-performing competitors in Dominique's space on LinkedIn and reverse-engineered their approach. The most successful competitor was consistently using the Problem-Agitate-Solution copywriting formula: open with a sharp pain point, build tension, deliver a clear solution with a call to action. Implementing this strategy drove measurable growth in audience, impressions, and engagement.

The Image Discovery

One of the most impactful findings from our analysis: adding an image to a LinkedIn post, even one loosely related to the topic, dramatically increases engagement. LinkedIn's algorithm responds to images more than text-based posts. The image acts as a pattern interrupt, stopping the scroll. The reader sees the image, then the headline, then reads the post. Once Dominique started pairing PAS posts with images, engagement spiked visibly.

Recent Events Content

The third lever was timing. Posts tied to current events, such as the launch of ChatGPT-4o, consistently generated the largest individual performance spikes. Timely content that connects a trending topic to the audience's professional concerns outperformed evergreen content on impressions and engagement, regardless of follower count. We adopted this as Dominique's highest-upside content format.

LinkedIn reach is algorithm-dependent. The newsletter was the long game: a direct, owned channel to Dominique's ideal clients that no platform update could take away. Every content decision was made with two goals in mind: grow impressions today, grow the subscriber base for tomorrow.
